Cisco Secure Firewall Adaptive Security Appliance and Secure Firewall Threat Defense Software IKEv2 Certificate Authentication Denial of Service Vulnerability
A vulnerability in the IKEv2 certificate authentication feature of Cisco Secure Firewall ASA and FTD software could allow an unauthenticated remote attacker to cause the affected device to reload unexpectedly. The vulnerability exists due to a logic error during the certificate authentication phase of IKEv2 connection setup. An attacker could exploit this by attempting to establish an IKEv2 VPN connection with a crafted certificate, causing the IKEv2 process to crash and triggering a denial of service condition.
- Network access to IKEv2 port (UDP 500) on your firewall from an untrusted network
- IKEv2 VPN configured and enabled on the firewall
Patching may require device reboot — plan for process interruption
